The NATIONAL is a world-class golf club and is dedicated to the highest standards and traditions of the game.  What people wear at the Club has a direct bearing on The NATIONAL’s reputation and image.  Members and their guests are expected to dress in appropriate golfing attire.

Denim

Members are permitted to wear appropriate denim attire, (i.e. denim that is not ripped, faded soiled or cut-off) from the parking lot directly to the clubhouse and Pro Shop, but may not traverse any pathway to enter golf areas including the golf course, the practice range, the putting green, the short-game area, the club storage area and the Halfway House.

Sweat or track pants are only permitted from the parking lot into the members only entrance to the locker room.

Nowithstanding the dress code, the Club may specify different acceptable attire for certain events, including, but not limited to, the Member Guest Tournaments and the National Amateur Invitational.


On the Golf Course

Golf slacks and Bermuda shorts are permitted.  Denim attire, capri pants, cargo pants, cargo shorts, track pants and T-shirts are not permitted.  Acceptable pants or shorts are to be worn with a collared golf shirt and/or a sweater.  Golf shirts must be tucked in at all times.  Mock turtlenecks with a minimum one (1) inch collar are permitted.

Golf shoes with soft spikes must be worn on the golf course.  Sandals of any description are not permitted on the golf course.  Sandals are permitted in the Clubhouse.

Hats must be worn with the brim forward.

Clothing displaying large commercial logos, except those that are golf related, is not permitted.  Small logos may be permitted on shirts, vests, jackets or hats, provided they are unobtrusive and in good taste.


In the Clubhouse

Appropriate after-golf designer shirts with full buttons and straight cut at the bottom do not need to be tucked in. Mock turtlenecks with a minimum one (1) inch collar are permitted.

In the Dining Room, Members are encouraged to wear jackets in the evening; however appropriate golfing attire is acceptable.  Shorts, sandals and hats are not permitted in the dining room after 5:00 p.m.

Members are responsible to advise golf or dining guests of the Club’s Dress Code and other Club rules (smoking restrictions, cell phone restriction) prior to their arrival.

 

Cell Phone Use

Cell phones must be in vibrate mode at all times while on the property.  Ringing of cell phones is prohibited in all areas at all times.   Use of cell phones is prohibited everywhere on the main floor except the Fazio Lounge. Cell phone use is also prohibited in the Proshop and on the Practice Facilities. Cell phones on the course may be used, provided proper golf course etiquette is used and pace of play is not affected. When a staff member advises you of a violation please respond in a respectful manner and place your phone in vibrate mode or turn it off. The use of cell phones on the practice facilities is strictly prohibited.
